Owner Information for Stock Items

Previous Page  Next Page

Usually owner information (the transaction number, such as a sales order or work order number, and the transaction line number which requires the Mat Req item) is only important when purchasing non stock items.  When the purchase order featuring the non stock item is received, the non stock item is received against and allocated to the owner transaction and is unavailable to other transactions which require the same item.

However, it may be useful to display owner information for stock items as well for reference purposes.  OrderStream provides this ability;  this feature is not enabled by default; it must be turned on via checking the Assign Owner Info to Stock Items when Gen PO from Mat Req application preference.

Obtaining Owner Information

The owner information can be manually typed into the Sales Order No or the Work Order No mat req fields.  You can also select the transaction line which requires the mat req item.

The owner information can be automatically transferred to the mat req form via one of the MRP transaction lookup forms if the Disable Assigning Owner Info from Buy/Stock MRP Lookup application preference is NOT enabled.  For more information on the MRP transaction lookup forms see Viewing Demand by Transaction.

When a purchase order is created for the stock item, the owner information will be transferred from the Mat Req form to the purchase order.

It is important to note that displaying owner information for stock items does not alter how the items are processed at the time of receipt.  Stock items are received into unallocated inventory (not associated to any transaction) regardless of whether owner information is displayed on the Mat Req form and subsequently the purchase order.
