User Defined Setup

Prerequisites

 

The User Defined Setup module must be activated.  If you are interested in purchasing the User Defined Setup module or in acquiring a limited time trial period, please contact your Seradex project manager or a Seradex Sales Representative.

 

Creating a New User Defined Property

 

To access the User Defined Property Maintenance form,

 

1) Select User Defined Setup from Utilities in the OrderStream profile bar.

 

2) From there the User Defined Property Maintenance form will open and you can select a module from the module drop down and see the User Defined Properties that are already attached to each of your modules.

 

3) In order to create a new User Defined Property for one of your modules, select Tools from the menu at the top of the form and then choose Add New User Defined Properties.

 

4) From there the User Defined Properties form will open.  Choose ADD from either the button on the bottom left of the form or from the menu at the top under FILE.

 

5) From there add in the names of the property you wish to add as well as the Description of the property, the Property type (Checkbox, Combo box, Date, etc.) and enter a default value if you want to include one.

 

NOTE: The Description serves as the label for the created User Defined Property.  Because of this if you are creating a new property and DO NOT include a Description then the label for the User Defined Property in the module you want to use will show up as blank.as seen in the screenshot below.

 

6) Once you have finished creating your new User Defined Property click the SAVE button.

 

Once you've created your new User Defined Property the next step is to add it to a module. To do that,

 

1) Once you've saved your newly created property close the User Defined Property form  and go back to the already open User Defined Property Maintenance form.

 

2) Choose the module you wish to use from the Module drop down.

 

3) After you've select the desired module, in the Property column select the newly created Property and then click the SAVE button.

 

4) Then close the User Defined Property Maintenance window and go to the module you were adding the Property to.

 

5) In the User Defined section of the module you will see your new property.

 

User Defined Property Types

 

When choosing a Property Type you have a number of options.  These options are, Checkbox, Combo. Date, MultiSelect, Text, Unicode Text and Group Line.

 

Checkbox

 

When choosing Checkbox you need to,

 

1) Choose the name for the new Property

2) Then the label for the new Property in the Description text box.

3) Select the Property Type (In this case Checkbox)

4) Press SAVE and then CLOSE. In the User Defined Property Maintenance form select the module you wish to add this text Property to as shown in the previous section titled, Create a New User Defined Property.

5) Once complete go to the module you've add the User Defined Property to and it will appear in the User Defined section of that module.

 

NOTE: If do don't have a Company selected the Check boxes will be grayed out.

 

Combo

 

When choosing Combo you need to,

 

1) Choose the name for the new Property

2) Then the label for the new Property in the Description text box.

3) Select the Property Type (In this case Combo)

4) Then in the Grid box at the top right of the form you will enter the Value, Description and which one is the Default choice for the Combo.

5) Press SAVE and then CLOSE. In the User Defined Property Maintenance form select the module you wish to add this text Property to as shown in the previous section titled, Create a New User Defined Property.

6) Once complete go to the module you've add the User Defined Property to and it will appear in the User Defined section of that module.

 

Date

 

When choosing Date you need to,

 

1) Choose the name for the new Property

2) Then the label for the new Property in the Description text box.

3) Select the Property Type (In this case Date)

4) Press SAVE and then CLOSE. In the User Defined Property Maintenance form select the module you wish to add this text Property to as shown in the previous section titled, Create a New User Defined Property.

5) Once complete go to the module you've add the User Defined Property to and it will appear in the User Defined section of that module.

6) From here to activate the Date field make sure that the checkbox inside the field is checked.  If not the date field will be grayed out and will not be included in the record.

 

MultiSelect

 

When choosing MultiSelect you need to,

 

1) Choose the name for the new Property

2) Then the label for the new Property in the Description text box.

3) Select the Property Type (In this case MultiSelect)

4) Then in the Grid box (as seen in the screenshot above) at the top right of the form you will enter the Value, Description and which one is the Default choice for the MultiSelect.

5) Press SAVE and then CLOSE. In the User Defined Property Maintenance form select the module you wish to add this text Property to as shown in the previous section titled, Create a New User Defined Property.

6) Once complete go to the module you've add the User Defined Property to and select the ellipsis button to open the Multiple Value Selection form.

7) Once the form opens you will see Values you added on the left side of the form in Available Values.

8) Choose the Value or Values you wish to add or subtract with the directional arrow button.  You can move Values in either direction using the arrow button in the center of the form. With the buttons you can move multiple Values in either direction.

9) When you are done press the CLOSE button to go back to the module form.

 

NOTE: Only one Value will be displayed in the text field in the module's User Defined section but when you press the ellipsis button you will see all the values you selected in the Selected Values side of the Multiple Value Selection form.

 

Text

 

When selecting Text, first click the ADD button to create a new User Defined Property then,

 

1) Choose the name for the new Property

2) Then the label for the new Property in the Description text box.

3) Select the Property Type (In this case Text)

4) Default Value.  This is optional you can enter text in it or leave it blank.  When you add text here it will display in the text field when a user goes to the User Defined section of the module that the Property belongs to.

5) Press SAVE and then CLOSE. In the User Defined Property Maintenance form select the module you wish to add this text Property to as shown in the previous section titled, Create a New User Defined Property.

6) Once complete go to the module you've add the User Defined Property to and it will appear in the User Defined section of that module.

 

Unicode Text

 

When selecting Unicode Text, first click the ADD button to create a new User Defined Property then,

 

1) Choose the name for the new Property

2) Then the label for the new Property in the Description text box.

3) Select the Property Type (In this case Unicode Text)

4) Press SAVE and then CLOSE. In the User Defined Property Maintenance form select the module you wish to add this text Property to as shown in the previous section titled, Create a New User Defined Property.

6) Once complete go to the module you've add the User Defined Property to and it will appear in the User Defined section of that module.

7) You will be able to use the Unicode text field to write other languages that are created using Unicode.

 

Group Line

 

GroupLine is used to create visual groupings in the User Defined section of a module.

 

When selecting GroupLine, first click the ADD button to create a new User Defined Property then,

 

1) Choose the name for the new Property

2) Then create a label for the new Property in the Description text box.

   Adding a Description will add text to the line as in letter B in the example below. If you want to just include a line as in letter A then leave Description blank.

3) Select the Property Type (In this case GroupLine)

4) Press SAVE and then CLOSE. In the User Defined Property Maintenance form select the module you wish to add this text Property to as shown in the previous section titled, Create a New User Defined Property.

6) Once complete go to the module you've add the User Defined Property to and it will appear in the User Defined section of that module as shown in the example above.
