Locations

The Material location flag allows you to establish inventory locations within the system where goods can be held, but are not acknowledged by system modules such as Make Stock MRP.  For example, you could set up a Quarantine location to hold discontinued or damaged items.  Obviously you would not want the system to treat these items as actual usable inventory.  Therefore, if you leave the Material Location flag unchecked for the Quarantine location, the system will ignore the items held within the location.

The material location flag is situated as indicated by the screen shot below:

Locations such as RAWMAT, FINGOODS or any production location in which you wish to utilize inventory monitoring modules such as the Buy Stock MRP and the Make Stock MRP, the Material Location flag must be checked or else items within these locations will be ignored.

Sample Locations which could be considered non Material Locations:

       Quarantine

       Vendor

       Customer

       WIP

Sample Locations which could be considered Material Locations:

       RAWMAT

       FINGOODS

       Subcontract Vendor Locations (If stocking materials at the vendor location)
