The OrderStream Event Alert module makes it possible to query data present in the OrderStream ActiveM database and to send e-mailed alerts to affected individuals based on the results returned by the query. This powerful functionality allows for the system to distribute important information to those that need it; thus increasing the level of awareness of company activities and the level of accountability to be expected of employees. The risk of things "falling through the cracks" can be greatly reduced with the use of Event Alert.
Some sample applications of the Event Alert module include notifying employees of:
• | Late sales orders or purchase orders |
• | Receipt of critical items on purchase orders ("hot flagged items") |
• | Change of transaction status |
• | Entry of key sales orders |
Many more scenarios are possible to be reported on by using event alerts. You are only limited by your imagination and the availability of the data required in the reporting.
The Event Alert module is comprised of two components:
1. | The event alert setup form which is accessed within OrderStream. This is where event alerts are created; to access the event alert setup form, expand the Utilities section of the OrderStream profile bar and click on Event Alert Setup. |
2. | EventAlert.exe runs the event alerts which have been created via the event alert setup form and is executed by setting up a Windows Scheduled Task on your server or any workstation with network access and a valid e-mail account. A minimum setup of the machine is required to allow EventAlert.exe to connect to the OrderStream ActiveM database: |
• | sxRuntime ODBC connection to sxRuntime.mdb |
• | Multi-Company installations require all sxRuntime ODBC connections to be created as well as correct setup of SubClients.mdb |
